Accountability & Transparency
In recent years, many non-profit organizations have faced unprecedented change and increased public scrutiny. As a result, governance and compliance issues are highly visible. The result is heightened awareness surrounding a strong system of internal controls and assurance provided to constituents that funds are managed and used efficiently, effectively and appropriately.
• Governance is a collective effort. It is made up of all of the processes the board and executive management take to advance a shared purpose consistent with the organization's mission.
• Accountability is being answerable for an obligation or willing to accept responsibility for an action.
• Transparency is making it easy for those inside and outside of the organization to see how resources contributed to your non-profit are used.
